Cloth diapers are, with no debate, cheaper than disposable diapers even if you buy the fanciest cloth diapers and covers you can get your hands on. If you estimate that the average disposable diaper costs about 20-30 cents then it will cost $1000-$1500 for their diaper lifetime. If a homemade cloth diaper costs about $2 and covers cost between $1 and $10 then all the diapering should cost from $100-$150 plus the cost of washing the diapers. Another way to look at this is that if my estimate of 40 diapers per load is correct and it takes you ten minutes per load to do the laundry then you would be saving about $50 an hour to use cloth diapers!
