Radical frugality is a lifestyle that embraces frugality and applies it in extreme and unconventional ways. This website assumes that you want to be radically frugal to help others in a logical, consistent, and intentional way as much as you are able. Selfless radical frugality is more complex then just being thrifty. There are a lot of people who have embraced simple thrifty lifestyles for multiple reasons, many of which are to save more for themselves rather than saving with the intention to give more to others. This leaves many of the more radical frugal ideas and issues under-examined and unexplored.

The first defining characteristic of radical frugality is that only thing which are needed are purchased. Every purchase should be evaluated based on whether the item is actually a need. If this principle is applied consistently it will definitely be quite radical.

A radically frugal person should also explore the effects that different consumer decisions have on the poor internationally. Sweat shop conditions, fair trade options, environmental repercussions and other such effects should all be considered and weighed with each purchase.

The heart of selfless frugality is that with every decision that is made we choose to do that which is the most loving for all people. Of course no one will be able to do this every time and we won't always know what kind of effect each choice that we are faced with will have. Nonetheless this is the pursuit of radical frugality.
